Cricket World Cup Affect On Films

The Cricket World Cup affect on films is not as much as feared by the industry and trade. When India plays a match the collections come in 20% lower than they should going by previous and next day collections. The other matches have minimal affect on box office collections.
So far India have played three matches and the first match affected the second day of Saat Khoon Maaf by around 20% and the next two matches have affected both Sunday's of Tanu Weds Manu by 20% on each occasion.
What can also be noted is that when a film has acceptance at places like Tanu Weds Manu then the film slowly cuts into the losses made on India match days as the film stays steadier on the non match days.
It may be tougher for a big film to make up losses suffered on India match days as 20% lower collections could mean 2 crore less but for the medium and lower budget films, the cricket has a limited affect if the film has appreciation from the public. A rejected film will obviously suffer more heavily, big or small.
