Is there a battle intensifying between Aishwarya Rai and Katrina Kaif for the central protagonist's part in Heroine? Is it just hearsay? Or is there really some fire behind all the smoke?
Recently a tabloid reported that the game was not yet over for Madhur Bhandarkar's supposedly shelved Heroine ever since things didn't quite work out between the filmmaker and Kareena Kapoor. While Madhur was said to have moved on to newer films, there were many in the industry who were still hopeful that Heroine would turn into a reality after all.
"With Madhur as well as UTV (which is said to have shown a keen interest in the film) keeping mum around developments, if any, the ground has been opened for all gossips, speculations and rumours to arise. One such topic of conversation which instantly heated up recently was the entire toss up between Ash and Kat. However, as before, all of it is still in thin air as none of the prime players have gone on record yet", says a source closely attached to the film.
This is the reason why Madhur as well as UTV are taking a diplomatic stance while not quite taking any names (as of now at the least). On contacted, Madhur said, "I have not yet decided what I would be making next. It could be a comedy, drama, love story, action, just about anything. When my subject by itself is not yet finalised, how can I be going around closing on the actress who would be playing a part?"
UTV too took a similar stance and reiterated the fact as shared by Madhur. Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV Motion Pictures, said, "We at UTV are committed to working with Madhur on a film and we are together considering various options."
The obvious question here is - 'Does Heroine feature as one of the various options?' "Well, Heroine is a great script and we would love for it to get made but it is really early days with regard to casting and we are yet to approach anyone in that regard", continued Siddharth.
The same stance is maintained by Madhur as well. He says, "Of course the subject of Heroine is close to my heart. I may have momentarily shelved it but I would definitely want to make it in future. However it is still early days. I would be pleased to talk more about it till something is concrete. Till then I am enjoying reading books, watching movies and travelling."
"In fact I just read somewhere that I am working on the sequel to Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. Let me state on record that nothing is happening around that as well. It is plain rumour. Currently, I am just going through a good unwinding period; I want to enjoy that to the fullest", smiles Madhur before signing off.
