KAHAANI is a captivating recount from its commencement to conclusion.On the whole, KAHAANI works big time because Vidya Balan makes it come alive. It is several notches above the stuff we've been subjected to in the past. The movie triumphs in evoking emotions. You experience compassion, resentment, defenselessness and triumph at a variety of stages. A wonderful movie-going experience, you come out feeling a sense of pride, pleasure and fulfillment after having watched KAHAANI. Just do not miss it. Hugely recommended!

In Kahaani Vidya Balan takes on her role with power and pride. Living out of a suitcase, amongst strangers, she takes on the soul of the city. Her performance leaves you in awe of an actress, who walks through her role as easily as a stroll down Chowranghee Lane. And even that is perfected as a pregnant waddle, add to it her disheveled look and eyes dark with anguish. Sujoy Ghosh's script and direction show no 'pregnant' pauses. It slams home a shock value that a thriller rightly demands. The story totally grips you and leaves you at a dramatic high. This one is Vidya's 'baby'. Ami shotti bolchi!

What's Good: The engaging suspense drama; the performances. What's Bad: The narrative style which will appeal mostly to the class audience. Verdict: Kahaani is an engaging and entertaining movie. Loo break: None. Watch or Not?: Watch it because it's an intelligent thriller told in a novel way.

CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI is not a movie to be taken seriously. Neither does it boast of an intensely ingenious tale. Nor is there an intellectual appealing screenplay in place, right from commencement till the very conclusion. But what keeps the film going are some ridiculously comical sequences. Despite the emphasis on barmy and wacky situations, despite the jokes being puerile and infantile, the movie keeps you entertained for most parts, especially in its second hour. The motive, therefore, is served. On the whole, uninhibited and naughty, CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI is an enjoyable madcap comic caper with adequate frenzied moments to keep you in your seats. A good laugh is assured!

What's Good: The farcical comedy and the outlandish characters that work very well; the post-interval portion; good performances; two songs. What's Bad: The ordinary first half; the less developed romantic track; the other songs, besides the two good numbers. Verdict: Chaar Din Ki Chandni is an entertaining and enjoyable fare which will keep the audience in splits. Loo break: Not really. Watch or Not?: Watch it for feeling truly refreshed with the mad-hatter comedy.

Like a shaadi ka band, Chaar Din Ki Chandni's tone is mostly raucous - and good fun. Its script crosses swords with British writer P G Wodehouse's zany plots (castle full of imposters, suspicious uncles, a mosquito-bitten Johnny Lever) while paying hurried homage to masala-mixed Bollywood, leaving little time to worry about subtlety or depth. CDKC is a movie made by Bollywood-lovers for those who like their cinema pretention-free. With tongue-in-cheek Deewar-to-Dabangg references, sometimes its humour (gay jokes, visually-challenged Sardars) can be way overcooked. But mostly, with its feisty heroine (who does a mean kick in a lehenga), its hilarious hero, some sweet chemistry, jokes involving the colour 'rad' and agreeable actors sprinkled around, CDKC is a breezy watch - with no dark night.

LONDON PARIS NEW YORK is a chic rom-com that's filmed in three hot-n-happening cities of the world.. What also sets this film apart is the fact that the story unfurls in eight years in three of the world's most thrilling cities, with the viewer getting a foretaste of everything that's allied with a rom-com in this globe-hopping voyage.The film follows their special voyage and their love story as they meet in London, Paris and New York over eight years. The film is in three subdivisions and each chapter is shot in a manner that mirrors the psychological state of Nikhil and Lalitha. On the whole, LONDON PARIS NEW YORK is akin to a lungful of fresh air amidst the hackneyed and passe rom-coms. It's a quirky, witty, coming-of-age movie that takes a conventional premise and twirls it into something delightfully unconventional, designed to charm and magnetize the urban youth. The movie speaks their lingo, mirrors their objectives and depicts the anguish and elation of falling in love. If you are young or young at heart, celebrate your weekend by leaping on to this feel-good earth hopping romance.

What's Good: The performances. What's Bad: The very restricted appeal of the script; elements of the screenplay which are not convincing; the lack of hit music. Verdict: London Paris New York will not work too well in India. Loo break: Not really. Watch or Not?: Watch it for a different movie experience.

Tigmanshu takes us into the world of Paan Singh Tomar and enlightens us the reasons that impelled a sportsman to take law in his hands. That itself is its USP, for this is no typical vendetta fare. It is a factual account of a sportsman who brought honor to the country, but felt betrayed when he needed the country the most. PAAN SINGH TOMAR is yet another masterstroke from a consummate raconteur. On the whole, PAAN SINGH TOMAR shatters the standard rules of this genre. Besides, the film makes you cognizant that serious cinema can be uniformly delightful, like any other enthralling entertainer. If this variety of cinema allures you then chances are that you will take pleasure in watching PAAN SINGH TOMAR. Recommended!

What's Good: The first half; the performances. What's Bad: The second half which is a routine revenge drama; the difficulty which the lay viewer will face while trying to understand the Bundelkhandi dialect in which the dialogues are spoken. Verdict: Paan Singh Tomar does not make too much of a mark, thanks to the dull second half. Loo break: A couple after interval. Watch or Not?: Watch it for Irrfan Khan's performance and also for the other actors.

The first half of the film has Tomar shining as an athlete for the Bengal Engineers regiment in Roorkee with many remarkable, convincing and well edited athletic scenes . In the second half, Tomar's post-army life is a messy tragedy for the man is drawn into a family argument over a plot of land. He had placed so much faith in the Indian army and the police force, but when all else fails he takes up arms to protect himself, his family, honor and more. Under Dhulia's direction, the transition of Paan Singh Tomar, the gentle athlete who carries a picture and memory of a Japanese female fan, and flirts with his wife (Mahie Gill ) in the sweetest manner, to the feared rebel, seems justifiable. As the audience, we stand by Tomar despite some heinous crimes committed by him and his gang,. Dhulia statement is clear -- in an unjust society, some crimes become a necessity!. PST reminds us never to forget that shame of India.

TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA is the third film that teams the two talents. This one ought to be their best, right? Well, Riteish and Genelia look great together, no two opinions on that, and the real-life husband-wife team get ample opportunity to sparkle in their third outing. There are hiccups too -- the film dips in the middle of the second hour -- but, thankfully, it comes alive towards the pre-climax moments, which leads to a winning finale. The credit, to a large extent, goes to Riteish and Genelia for rising beyond a commonplace screenplay. On the whole, TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA is refreshing and succeeds in its endeavor of amusing and entertaining, more particularly in its second hour. In addition, the sparkling performances by Riteish and Genelia is the mainstay of the film.

What's Good: Several comedy scenes; the hit music; the family drama; the emotional drama. What's Bad: Some clichéd comedy scenes; lack of justification for the love angle. Verdict: The entertaining second half and the hit music save Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and make it a plus fare for Tips and UTV. However, a few of the distributors who have acquired territorial distribution rights at fancy prices will not be able to make money. Loo break: A couple in the first half. Watch or Not?: Watch it for getting entertained.

To put things in the right perspective, JODI BREAKERS is routine, clichéd and formulaic, at least initially. Add lazy and unenergetic too. Director Ashwini Chaudhary doesn't get a grip of things, except in a couple of sequences. But the twist and turns in the post-interval portions are of an interesting variety [writer: Aakash Kaushik], with a major chunk of the second hour succeeding in making you erase whatever misgivings you may have had from the first hour. On the whole, JODI BREAKERS has an engrossing and smartly executed second half that tilts scales in its favor. The right dose of drama and romance, besides a trendy, harmonious musical score, only act as toppings.

What's Good: A few comedy scenes; the music. What's Bad: The defective screenplay; the uninspiring and meaningless second half. Verdict: Jodi Breakers is a dull show. It will not be able to break even. Loo break: Several. Watch or Not?: Watch it for the performances and the music, but do not expect much else.

What's Good: The actors' performances. What's Bad: The ordinary story; almost complete lack of entertainment value. Verdict: Married 2 America is a below-average fare. Flop! Loo break: Quite a few in the first half. Watch or Not?: Watch it for the performances but be warned that the film, as a whole, does not have much to offer.

With Ekk Deewana Tha director Gautham Menon takes his third stab at the same story, having directed successful Tamil and Telugu versions previously. This Hindi remake is a disappointing bore of a love story that tests your threshold for pain as it hobbles along indulgently for close to 2 hours and 40 minutes.I'm going with a generous two out of five for Ekk Deewana Tha. Even A R Ramhan's score offers only sporadic relief. The only real discovery you make through this film is Prateik Babbar's immense likeability. Now if only the kid could act!

Though essentially a remake, EKK DEEWANA THA conjures memories of K. Balachander's roaring hit EK DUUJE KE LIYE. Menon is a master storyteller, no two opinions on that, but EKK DEEWANA THA fails to leave an impact for a valid reason: A beaten to death plot tends to stagnate after a point. Also, Menon overstays the hospitality by dragging the film in its second hour. Just when you think the story would conclude, Menon does a time travel and starts a new chapter in this never-ending love story. That, honestly, only makes this snail-paced movie a taxing and cumbersome experience. On the whole, EKK DEEWANA THA has a few sparkling moments, that's about it. However, it lacks the fizz for the spectator to go deewana!

What's Good: A few light scenes; the Hosanna song. What's Bad: The routine story; the weak screenplay; lack of feeling of empathy for the two lead characters.
