How do you follow up one of the most successful and beloved film franchises of all time? If you're Christopher Nolan, you head for the stars.
The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Nolan is in negotiations to produce and direct the sci-fi project Interstellar as his next movie following the tremendous success of his Dark Knight Trilogy. Negotiations have apparently been underway for months and are being described as "very complex".
Interstellar was written by Nolan's brother and regular collaborator Jonathan Nolan.
The film follows a group of explorers who travel through a wormhole. It is said to include elements of time travel and alternate dimensions and is based on theories from Caltech physicist Kip Thorne. Steven Spielberg was previously attached to direct the film and it's unclear if he will still be involved with the project.
Since finishing The Dark Knight Rises, Nolan has focused his attention on producing this summer's highly anticipated Superman reboot, Man of Steel.
We're definitely excited to see what Nolan does with a true sci-fi movie and Interstellar sounds like it has all the elements Nolan looks for in a film... but what do you think?
