"Jurassic Park 4" was set to start production this June for a summer 2014 release date, but it looks like things are moving a bit slower than expected as Universal is putting the project on hold. The studio has decided to push the release date of the dinosaur four-quel in order to give the filmmakers more time for development. Here's the deal. Universal got its hands on the new draft of the script for the movie from director Colin Trevorrow and screenwriter Derek Connolly just two days ago, according to The Hollywood Reporter. And with a new round of development and budgeting adjustments, it was starting to look like a June 24th production start date wasn't such a good idea. Rather than rush into it, possibly compromising the movie, Universal decided not to risk it and decided to postpone the release date. In a statement released by the studio, Universal said, "We could not be more excited about the vision that Colin Trevorrow has created for this film, and we look forward to watching as he and the producers create another great chapter in this franchise's storied history." So when can we expect this larger than life movie to hit theaters? We're thinking 2015, since JP4 is one of the few movies that could possibly compete with Disney's killer lineup. The studio could also push for a December release, but that's kind of unlikely considering it would only give them a few extra months for development, and let's be honest...this needs to be a summer blockbuster. But what do you think? When do you want to see JP4 hit theaters and do you think the studio will have enough time to give us the movie fans want to see?
